How to book a pooja/priest
PanditJi in our Mandir are available for all your religious activities for 7 days of the week throughout the year. To book a priest for your private functions, please click here.
Hindu Samaj is funded entirely by donations and continual support of its members. Members and others requesting services of the Mandir's priests will be advised ahead of time of the amount of dakshina to be offered to the priests and donations to the Mandir according to the following guidelines.
Suggested Donation for Puja Services
Hindu Samaj would like to suggest the following minimum donation amounts though more can be offered at the yajman's discretion: The rates are based on maximum TWO hours of total time at your place. A $100.00 charge will apply for each additional hour.
Devotees are requested to provide fruits and flowers for the Puja, including bhog (prashad) and any special Puja and Hawan Samagree. Please obtain the list of items from the Priest for the ceremony.
Priest Dakshina is not included and should be paid separately to the priest. In determining the amount of dakshina to be offered to the priest, the yajman should take into account the time devoted by the priest to the performance of a particular ceremony and in reaching the venue of this service. Suggested Dakshina can be in the range of 20% of Puja cost or higher. Dakshina should be clearly marked and not mixed with Aarti money. Aarti money should be given to Mandir. No tax deductible receipt will be issued for Dakshina and Aarti money.
If travel is outside of 10 miles from the mandir, an additional minimum charge for Tolls plus Parking plus transportation would also apply at IRS standard milage rate* of 65.5 cents per mile (for year the 2023) OR as explicitly agreed for the ritual based on the location. The charges will be payable to Mandir.
(*IRS rates as applicable for the year would apply)
*Please call Mandir for all other Puja/Services not mentioned below.
Please pay the amount indicated below using PayPal:
For puja held outside the Mandir, the yajman should consider the money collected for Aarti as an extension of the mandir's Aarti collection. Therefore, this money should be offered to the Mandir.
Donation to the Mandir
All yajmans have an obligation to donate to the Mandir on the occasion of pooja performed by the priest at their homes or at other venues. However, for non-members of the society, in addition to the dakshina, a minimum donation of $101 to the Mandir is expected.
Guidelines for Prasad Offering
We are making this request fully aware of the sentiments of devotees. We have also given instructions to the priest to follow the the guidelines as given below. Lots of Prasad-sweets , fruits and prepared food brought as an offering is wasted because other devotees do not wish to receive them from the priests for various reasons such as dietary, health and sanitary concerns. We feel terrible when we are compelled to throw it away because of health code and liability reasons. We are therefore requesting:
Bring only Almonds/Raisins/Cashews (dry-fruits) as offerings
If sweets and other perishable food including fruits are brought, please do the following: a)after it has been offered to the deity , take it to the kitchen and distribute it to your family and friends b) take the Prasad home. Please do not distribute any food in the Mandir area.
We request that instead of sweets and other perishable food, please make a donation either by cash or check deposited in the donation box. Checks written to Hindu Samaj is charitable tax deductible. If you deposit cash in a sealed envelope with your name, and address, we will send you a receipt. Such donations will help the temple to pay off mortgage which is over $4 million.
We deeply appreciate your understanding, cooperation and generous donation
